Chapter 10 Maybe a Wedding...or Not

Today is the day. Our wedding day. We have planned a small wedding with just the immediate family attending.

All dressed up for the wedding.

Just a few pre-nuptial pictures to help shake off the nerves.

The wedding begins...for real.

Unfortunately, there will be no wedding today. I just can't get married at this point in my life. My friend Shayla saw what was happening and tried to smooth things over. I'm afraid Brett was not very happy about the wedding being called off in this manner.

I made several attempts to apologize to Brett and took full responsibility for what happened.

Brett and I tried to at least be friends after that day. It just wasn't working. The feelings were still too raw, and he remained very angry. Maybe he felt I had made a fool of him in front of my family. In the end, we decided to not see one another. Not at all. Not ever. He told me it was all over before leaving still angry and upset. I believe him.

I have made a surprising discover over the past few weeks. I am pregnant!

I've been so busy at work that the time is going by very fast. I haven't spoken with Brett since we broke up but I really feel I should let him know he is going to be a father.

I decided to visit Brett at his family home. The visit went surprisingly well. While he was civil and even tended to ignore me, I could tell he wasn't upset about the news. His sister seemed happy about being an aunt.

The time is passing quickly for me and my pregnancy is going well. I have only had the occasional moments of morning sickness. I got another big promotion at work and am very pleased.

I was especially happy that Dad decided to visit. I wanted to let him know he is going to be a Grandpa. He seemed pleased.

Mom has been visiting often and keeps checking in on me to make sure I am eating right and getting enough rest. She is excited about the grandchild.

My little sister Shaina. She is growing up. No more babies in the Berri main household.
